In earlier version for NAV 2013 and NAV 2013 R2 we have to do some registry settings to run side-by-side on same workstation.
Yesterday I have install NAV 2015 on my laptop which have already installed NAV 2013 R2 version. The Installation of NAV 2015 was completed without any issue. Then I start checking some basic tests like Role Tailored Client of NAV 2013 R2 and NAV 2015 working fine together, if you run any page or report from development environment of NAV 2013 R2 then it will automatically opens in NAV 2013 R2 RTC without any client/server version issue. The same scenario working fine in NAV 2015 also.
Second I have test administration management console of NAV 2013 R2 and NAV 2015 both working fine together. You can manage any version service from respective administration console.
So as of now as per my experience NAV 2013 R2 and NAV 2015 working fine side-by-side. I am still going through some more test cases if there are any issue found then I will post here. But I hope that Microsoft takes care of all these scenarios and not any major problem we have to face.
Having long running reports in NAV ? And you want to get rid of it then now in NAV 2015 we will have feature available to run report on Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server via scheduling.
Microsoft introduced four features called Mandatory Fields, Auto-fill No. field, Totals on Documents, and UI Elements Removal, all of which provide a simplified User Experience.
Mandatory Fields
Customer Page with five fields marked as mandatory. Red asterisk mark which fields are mandatory.
Auto-filled no. fields
On sales orders, which have multiple number series, the No. field is shown.
On sales invoices, which only have one number series and Manual Nos. = False, the No. field is hidden.
The Invoice number is still shown both in the window caption (top) and in the page caption so the user can still see the No.
Total on Documents
Sales and purchase documents now have totals displayed at the bottom of the lines section.
Removal of UI elements
Letting the system remove UI Elements not in the user’s license or permissions set the UI can be made very simple, only showing the things the user have access to
Example with a sales order processor with a very restricted permission set before and after the system removes UI elements not in the user’s permissions.
